A Verse From Bâkî

“Gül-i ter sonra gelür gülşene evvel has u hâr”

In English:

“First come branch and prickles, later fresh rose, to the rosery.”

This verse shortly can be paraphrased as “nothing can be reached without bother and trouble.” So we can rewrite the verse as:

“First come bother and troubles, later peace and comfort, to one’s life.”
